technology: rainwater harvesting, greywater systems, composting, and on‑site production of soil-regenerating microorganisms. This means you will learn not just the ideas of permaculture, but how to practice it through inspirational real-world applications when you are back home.

What You Will Learn and Experience

In this 72‑hour curriculum aligned with internationally-recognised PDC standards, your experience will include:

• Understanding permaculture ethics and design principles: zone & sector analysis, pattern language, whole‑systems thinking, and more.

• Working with soil regeneration, water capture & storage, natural building with bamboo, volcanic rock and recycled materials.

• Designing your own project (either your future home garden, property, or part of a group‑design helping a local) with mentorship and feedback.

• Living together in community: shared meals, cooperative living, hands‑on work and reflection. Social sustainability and community building are core.

Logistics & Details

Dates & Location: The dates of the course are March 8th to March 22nd, 2026. When you are here, you will wake up to the fresh mountain air in rural Costa Rica town just 1.5 hours from the San Jose International airport. Cost: The tuition covers lodging, meals, instruction and the Permaculture Design Certificate. The regular price is $1,500 (and enjoy the Early-Bird Rate by November 30th, when the price is $1,350). Costa Rican nationals pay 380.000 colones. As an option, enjoy our neighbor's high-end cabin with a beautiful view of the valley for a total of $1,725.

Accommodations: Choose from private rooms in homestay houses (stay with a local family) or upgrade to a neighbor's cabin shared with other students.
